I’ve made a little progress on stitching the pieces of my clamshells. I honestly think it would be doubly difficult to decide which designs to use if I hadn’t made a detailed stitch sampler, following directions posted on the Bernina web site. This allows me to flip through the pages of designs to decide which ones to use next; it’s amazing how different many of them look, compared to what can be viewed on the screen of the machine. Anyway, I have 49 clamshells to decorate before I put them together and stitch yet another motif on each one — and that’s assuming I don’t hate some of what I do and end up having make a few new ones! LOL! So at this point, I’m a little less than 25% finished with this step — and it’s fun! These are laid out on a cutting mat in no particular order.

My book just came in the mail yesterday. I’m still at our lake house, my stash is at home…I will gather info from the Bernina website, maybe get going on stitching out the designs in my 790. I gather you made a sampler book. What fabric did you use? I hope I finish a wall hanging, I got hyped over the Latte quilt & it sits unfinished in a tote😢😢
Marilynne, I just used muslin for my stitch book, and it actually goes pretty quickly once you get started. Good luck with the clamshells — I’m enjoying making mine, but I have to admit that I selected the cushion for my project so I’d be sure to want to finish. 😉 I didn’t really think I’d finish a large piece.
I ordered this project from Deborah but have not started it yet. I am agonizing over color choices. I need to just jump in and start sewing. Thanks for the incentive.

Oh, do, Peggy! I’m agonizing over which designs to use on which clamshells, but it’s really fun to get to use all of these lovely decorative stitches. 🙂
