Another finish :)

Ribbon Weave quiltAt 85″ x 85″, this Ribbon Weave quilt is much larger than I usually make. Thank goodness for the suspension system I purchased last spring! Wrestling something of this size through my Bernina 790+ would have been exhausting otherwise! If I’d thought through what I was doing, I think I’d have redrafted the design in EQ8 in something more like a lap size. But it’s finished now! 🙂 It’s to be a gift, probably later this summer.

corner detailAs usual I couldn’t resist quilting feathers here. I did free-motion feathered wreaths in the white blocks with square purple centers; each wreath surrounds the central purple square. I then repeated parts of the wreaths in the setting triangles around the edges. There are also feathered sprays in the straight white strips between the colored strips.

side detailThe only place where there are no feathers is in the colored strips! Those simply have straight lines, done with ruler work, along each edge in a lovely variegated teal/purple thread. Along the edge, you can see that I’ve added corded piping next to the binding.

I’ve also made an embroidered label, but I can’t post that for fear of spoiling the surprise in a few months. 😉
