I’ve finished my latest paper-piecing project! I love this bird, but I absolutely hated how it was made. Don’t get me wrong, though; the fabrics and colors are amazing, and I do enjoy paper piecing. However, this is a new-to-me kind of paper piecing, and I didn’t enjoy it at all. That’s fine; lots of people like these designs and the technique, so they won’t miss me. 😉
The quilt is about 28″ x 38″, and I chose to finish it with a facing, rather than binding. I just didn’t have enough fabric left to do a binding, and I thought that binding might detract from the piece.
The quilting is straight diagonal lines in the background. On the bird, I did feathers in the wing and tail, as well as continuous curves in the body.
My new Bernina 790Ultra was a joy to use!
Now I’m starting to cut out the pieces for my next project, a bag called A Place for Everything 2.0, from byAnnie. Aren’t the fabrics pretty? I’ll use the print on the outside of the bag, trimming that with the purple. The lining will be the light teal. Stay tuned! 😉

Sandy, this is absolutely gorgeous! Great job… and it sounds like a job, and not a pleasurable hobby.
LOL! Thanks, Deena! Yes, it became a job, though I’d expected a pleasurable hobby for this one. Oh well. Live and learn. And I do like the finished piece, so it could be worse. 😉
