Welcome, and RIP

Bernina 790+ with beautiful purple faceplateThis is the wonderful sewing machine I’ve had for more than the past five years. A few years ago, I was able to add a lovely iridescent “skin” to the plain faceplate (click the photo to enlarge for a better view!), and I’ve loved sewing on such a beautiful machine with such wonderful capabilities.

Two machine/accessory suitcases and a tote bagHowever, disaster struck, and it turned out to be better in the long run to get a new machine. I’m really going to miss that skin, but I can’t find any skins, let alone anything even vaguely similar, these days. 🙁 So I packed up my machine, the embroidery module and all of the accessories. It was a lot to pack up!

Two new machine/accessory suitcases, a tote bag and huge box of extras. And this is what came home with me. It looks about the same, except that there’s that additional large box in the back with lots of extras.

Bernina 790Pro with plain black faceplateThe new machine is absolutely wonderful, even if it isn’t as spectacular in looks. Among other things, it has a built-in laser that shows exactly where each new stitch is going to fall — a very handy feature for the satin-stitch appliqué that is my current project. I think I’m going to love this machine! But if I could find a new skin to jazz up that plain black faceplate, I’d be ecstatic. 🙂
