Sideways …

Sideways view of heart blocks alternating with 9-patch blocks to give a chain effect. The hearts are in rows of pale orange, white-ish, and pale green, while the chain blocks are small white squares on a blue-grey background. That blue-grey is also the background for the heart blocks.I’m talking about the picture here. 😉 My “design wall” isn’t long enough to hang these rows the right direction, so they’re sideways. As I add more rows, I won’t be able to hang this at all; the quilt top will be too big in every direction, even though it will only be about 63″ x 72″. Oh well.

Anyway, in my last post, I was making what seemed like a zillion tiny nine-patch blocks with 1″ pieces. Those blocks have now been alternated with solid patches to make larger nine-patch blocks, giving a chain effect. These, in turn, will alternate with heart blocks, as you can see. There will be two more rows in gradually darker oranges and three more rows with gradually darker greens. These are definitely not colors I usually enjoy working with, but the quilt will be a gift for someone who does like them. 🙂
