More class samples

machine-pieced hexagonsAs I’ve explained before, I’m taking an online series of classes — fantastically wonderful classes — that are issued monthly. The class I did in August was a different “take” on paper piecing from what I’ve typically done in the past. The samples I made from this were fun to do. First, I made samples of two different sizes of hexagons, pieced entirely by machine and without splitting any of the hexagons. The larger ones are 2″, and the smaller ones are 1″.

clamshellsThe next sample was clamshells, and this was also really fun and very rewarding. I didn’t do many of them, but I don’t anticipate making an entire quilt of clamshells, anyway. However, I could definitely see making some as *part* of a quilt. I learned to draft my own clamshells in whatever size I like and then to add them to a backing to get the desired result.
