Back to it

It’s been a while! I’ve been distracted from my current quilt for a time, but I’m getting back to it now. Why was I distracted? It was a combination of the usual things that happen in a family to keep us busy and a trip to Phoenix for the recent AQS show. My very good friend Phyl had invited me to visit so we could attend the show together, and we always have a good time when we do this sort of thing.

IMG_1133I left home on Wednesday morning and drove to Phoenix, and then the two of us visited a new quilt shop there. Thursday we visited the AQS show, including all of the vendors and all of the show quilts. Gorgeous! I didn’t buy any huge amount of anything — a couple of spools of thread and some needles were about it.

Friday we drove around to several quilt shops around the Phoenix valley area. In one of them we saw a quilt made of blocks of embroidered Christmas trees, and both of us fell in love! Unfortunately, the shop no longer had the patterns available, but of course the internet came to the rescue. 😉

Saturday we headed back to the show, not worrying about being there bright and early this time. We looked around for a few minutes, and then I headed for my class. This was a class on designing miniature whole cloth quilts with Lisa Calle. I’d had a different class from her last fall in Houston, and she’s very good! I can hardly wait until I have a chance to work on the design I began in class.  Are you getting the idea that my “Quilts To Make” list is getting longer? LOL!

Anyway, now that I’m back, I’ve decided to stop my everlasting indecision and just jump into getting ‘Tis the Season back on track. After all, that thread I just bought is the red I’ll need for this quilt! First, though, I have to do the fill work in the embroidered blocks, one of which I’ve finally finished.
