I’ve always liked curved blocks: Drunkard’s Path, New York Beauty, Winding Ways, etc. In fact, I’ve already made two projects from the Drunkard’s Path block, I’ve done some NY Beauties, and I recently finished my Winding Ways quilt (photo coming soon, I hope!). When I saw my sister’s recent work, I decided I had to make yet another Drunkard’s Path quilt, so now I’ve begun work on that. 🙂
What’s really great about this one is that the quilter who came out with the templates I’m using this time also put up some online videos for her technique — a technique that uses no pins! Yay! I’ve never liked what happens with pins in curves, especially if the blocks are very small, so this is great. I’ve made the first 20 blocks for this quilt; these measure 3.75″ unfinished. They’re all cut from FQs with virtually no waste at all. Even better, the FQs were all in my stash!

First, I love your fabrics. But more importantly, thanks so much for the link to the video for sewing the curves without pins. I recently made 4 sample DP blocks and decided they would be placemats instead of a quilt because the curves were just too tricky. Now I have to try this great method. Fabulous method for cutting FQs too.

Carolyn, it’s a tremendous coincidence, isn’t it? 😉 But this is the best method I’ve ever seen for making these blocks, so I’m enjoying it a lot! 🙂
