Oops!

Small purple zippered case with white top handle and multicolored zipper with matching dog zipper pulls.I’ve been looking for a way to pack jewelry when I go away, but everything I’d seen just didn’t quite work. However, I noticed a pattern on the By Annie site that I thought might do the trick; the pattern is called Treasures and Trinkets. Since it can be made in three sizes, I thought that the smallest one would work just fine. It’s about 7″ x 6″ x 3.75″ and can be squished if necessary. It has zippered pockets for rings and bracelets, etc., and some are even removable, in case they aren’t needed. Then there’s a vinyl mesh piece for earring and necklaces. It was certainly worth a try!

Problem #1: I couldn’t find any vinyl mesh in stock anywhere in town, and even places like Amazon only sell it in huge quantities. However, there is a place in Canada that had smaller amounts, so I ordered there. Oops. Right about then is when shipping between our two countries became complicated, but — almost three weeks later — it did finally arrive. Whew.

Inside of zippered case, all lined in teal. There are multiple small pockets that flip out or remove entirely, each with a vinyl window. Problem #2: Sometimes (okay — frequently) I get a bit careless. This little bag is supposed to zip open with a fabric “hinge” on a long side. Somehow I managed to attach the hinge to a short side. Even worse, I didn’t really notice until I’d finished attaching every part, including the binding. Should I take it apart? I don’t think so. It still works, even if it does look a little strange, and even if the earring section is now sideways. I’ll live with it.

On the bright side, I already had all of the fabric and Soft and Stable, as well as the adorable zipper pulls and the vinyl for the pockets. All I needed to buy, besides the vinyl mesh, was a zipper! I’ll try the bag out the next time I go away. 🙂
