I’m not wild about the title I ended up with for this quilt, but I couldn’t think of anything better and wanted to get the label done. 🙂 The quilt began when I saw a pattern called “Elephants” from Laundry Basket Quilts. I do like elephants, so it caught my attention. However, each elephant in the design was completely separated from the others. One of the things I find so interesting about elephants is their strong family ties, so I changed the design to have each elephant connected to the next. The elephants are machine appliquéd, and I used free-motion quilting and ruler work to quilt the piece, which measures 36.5″ x 39.5″.

I love your elephants, the colors, the way you have positioned them, but I just love the way you have
quilted the background. I am sure took a lot of your time and concentration, it is so detailed and so
beautiful. I hope you have entered it in the DQN quilt show. Thank you for sharing with us.
Thanks, Diana — you’re very kind. 🙂 I didn’t enter it, since I wasn’t sure it would be finished in time, but that’s okay — I just enjoyed making it.
