I really admire elephants and their strong dedication to each other. I saw this pattern at my local quilt shop, and just couldn’t resist. I’m limiting myself to just nine elephants, rather than the two dozen shown in the design, and I’ve changed how I’m laying them out so that they seem to be more of a family unit. Sort of. 😉 In this photo, the elephants are merely laid out roughly on my sewing cabinet, but since then I’ve fused them to a background. The next step is to begin stitching them down.
UPDATE: I’ve machine appliquéed the elephants to the background, which doesn’t look a lot different from seeing them on my sewing cabinet — and that’s why this isn’t a separate post. There’s actually quite a bit more background fabric than can be seen here; I folded it back for ease of photographing it. Now to decide on the quilting I’ll do ….

Hi Sandy, Happy new year to you and your family. I love your elephants. I am working on a baby quilt with an elephant appliqued on it. Fun to see yours. Hugs, Taria
Happy New Year to you and yours, too, Taria! Thanks for your kind words; I’d love to see your elephant quilt, too. 🙂
