It’s been a couple of weeks, but I do have a little update on the progress of my current quilt. I’d finished all of the outlining and had decided to do diagonal lines around the red diamonds in the text blocks. After that was done, I realized that the filler quilting I’d planned to do around the embroidered words really didn’t give the effect I’d wanted. Oops. I tried two different motifs and picked each of them out. How many of us love undoing quilting? I certainly don’t! LOL! That’s when I realized that the diagonal lines could actually be continued right along each of the text blocks, stopping where the lines run into parts of the words. That’s what I’ve just finished doing.
It sounds easy enough, and it probably would be for someone more experienced with using rulers on a domestic machine. Fighting the weight of the quilt as it dragged against the direction I was trying to go wasn’t always as simple as it looks, so my stitching isn’t as even as I’d like. Oh well. I figure this is a quilt for my family to enjoy, so if it isn’t perfect we’ll still enjoy it. 🙂
On to the next step!

I like the diagonal lines in the text, they really compliment the the seminole piecing.
Thanks, Phyl! 🙂 That’s what I was hoping.
