Another quilt is in the bag

Overall view of quilt with white background set with interlocking pairs of hollow squares on point in blues and pinks. This quilt, like the previous one, is literally in the bag. I’m storing them both in bags until time to gift them to the intended recipients. This one is from a pattern called Strip to Be Square, by G.E. Designs. I know the colors may suggest “baby quilt,” but it’s not; I simply made it in the favorite colors of the people who will receive it. The quilt measures 51″ x 70″, and my husband’s arms don’t quite stretch to that width. 😉

Construction was fairly simple, and I thought it needed something to soften all of those angles, so I quilted lots of feathers into the colored sections and in the meandering borders. Then, as contrast, I did quite a bit of ruler work in the triangles surrounding the colored areas. Click on the photos to enlarge them.

Detail of quilting, showing feathers in a meandering inner border. Detail of quilting, showing ruler work in the setting triangles around the hollow squares; there are hearts inside the squares.
