When we first moved here in 1999, we brought with us — of course! — our then five-year-old dog, Dexter. He was really a sweetheart; he loved everyone, but he always made sure that he was “on duty” whenever workmen were around for the inevitable final touches a new home needs. Sadly, dogs have a shorter life-span than humans, so he crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2008. It’s taken me a very long time to make a quilt to memorialize him, but when I saw this pattern at Pacific Rim Quilt Company, it was perfect!
I’m not very good at appliqué — and especially at detailed cutting! — but my husband loves this quilt, as he and Dexter were especially crazy about each other. I used zigzag appliqué (the laser built into my gorgeous Bernina 790Pro was amazing for this!) and then did some ruler work and free-motion quilting. The quilt measures approximately 24.5″ x 36″.
