The quilt I’m working on needs sixteen Snail’s Trail blocks, and my Bernina and I finished making those today — yay! I still need to make 25 pieced cornerstone blocks and 20 diamond sashing blocks, but these Snail’s Trail blocks have more pieces in them than the others. Hmmm … I see that I managed to get one of the blocks turned in a different direction than the others, but that’s okay; this is not the final layout!

Do you have the instructions for the snails trail block.
I love the pattern.
Thanks, Lillian! I drafted the pattern in EQ8, but I’m pretty sure you’d be able to find it online, since it’s a pretty old design. Try QuiltingDaily.com, for example. 🙂
Oh thats lovely
Thanks, Ally! Still a lot to do … 🙂
What a difference the smashing makes. It reminds me of the mystery quilt I make from ‘sew on the go’ by Michelle Renee Hiatt who only uses Deb Tucker rulers from Studio 180. I have most of them at great expense here in Australia. Have you used them here? Also what thread do you use for FMQ? Love the colours.
I think I have one of Deb Tucker’s rulers, but I usually try to avoid specialty rulers so that I won’t feel guilty if I only use a particular version once. When I want the quilting to sort of “disappear” into the quilt, leaving only texture, I tend to use either Bottom Line or Sew Fine in a matching (or close to it) shade, both from Superior Threads. If I want the quilting to show, I can use Sew Fine in a contrasting color, or I can go with a 40wt, probably either Isacord or Glide, for a stronger statement.
