I’m taking a wonderful series of classes online from Philippa Naylor, and the most recent one was to learn a great technique for curved piecing. The finished design is called Happy Heart, and it’s truly wonky and fun. Each individual curved block finished at 3″, and the outer border was done crooked to emphasize the whimsy even more. The whole idea here was absolute precision and yet the goal was also to have the heart look jagged and unusual.
I’ve run out of the aqua batiks I used, so I’m not sure how or whether I’ll finish this up, but it was certainly fun to do.
Given how we’re all staying home these days, our little dog has become rather shaggy and — worse — dirty. I do wash her paws frequently, but I don’t usually give her baths, as I rely on the groomer for that. However, the groomer is closed for now, so yesterday became bath day for Bisou, and she joyfully rolled around on my bed to try to dry off after I’d finished getting her cleaned up. Fortunately, there was time for the bed to dry off before I needed to get into it! 😉

I really like the heart and a great way to learn curved piecing.
Thanks, Phyl. Her classes are always chock-full of great information. 🙂 I’ve never seen Drunkard’s Path blocks lie so smoothly as they did this time.
