And … it’s done! I had originally envisioned doing swirling feathers in all of the colored areas, but that was an impossible task. The bulk created by all of those tiny seams just meant that my free motion foot kept getting hung up; it’s rather difficult to do smooth curves and even stitches when the thickness of the seams keeps changing. Oh well.
I resorted to stitching in the ditch, using ruler work, in all of the colored sections and reserved the feathers for the outer (flatter!) areas. Then I did some piano keys in the border before adding colored corded piping and the final binding. The finished piece is only about 19.5″ x 17.5″, and I’m delighted to have finally done this design that I’d had in mind for so long. Thanks to EQ8, it was a relatively simple design to draft.

It is beautiful. I love the juxtaposition of the straight lines in the swirl and the swirl in the right angle corners. All encased in straight lines again. Great job. I KNOW you are glad it is done. Next?

LOL! Thanks, and you’re right — I’m very glad it’s done! Next? I’m not sure yet — still thinking.
Beautiful, love the quilting.
Thanks, Phyl! 🙂
