I don’t know why I’m so intrigued by the biscornu construction, and I also don’t know why I like pin cushions so much. At the moment, I have at least nine pin cushions, and that’s not counting the ones I’ve made and given away!

At any rate, my local quilt group liked my biscornu cushion and want me to teach them the technique by means of making a pin cushion, so I made a new one; my previous one is already nine years old, but the new one may end up being a gift, if the intended recipient wants it. The new one uses machine embroidery, while the older one just had a bit of decorative stitching. Here are the old and the new together. I’ll still need to make a sample or two of partially-constructed versions to illustrate how to do this, but step one is done!
