I’ve been working on knitting a new cardigan for the past few months; like my in-progress quilt, it’s been a little at a time. Anyway, I finally finished all five pieces and blocked them this morning, ready to stitch together. Once that joining is done, I’ll still have to add the button band and neck trim, which is a combination of a simple lace pattern and a little ribbing. The pattern is another of Amy Herzog’s Custom Fit creations, this one called Spanish Bay, though I’m making it with long sleeves.
The blocking was so much easier this time, now that I have some extra blocking mats! Before now, I had only nine (the grey ones in the photo), meaning that I had to block in stages. But I found some that are usually used as a play mat for children, and these are in bright colors. The colors are fun, but unfortunately the mats aren’t exactly the same size as my other set, so I can’t simply attach all of them together. Still, this was the first time I’ve been able to block an entire sweater at once! 🙂
