Prima Diva

Last Friday a friend and I got together to work on the Prima Diva Clutch. This pattern is not for the faint of heart! Robin decided to use as many different fabrics and colors as she could, while I stuck to a two-fabric palette. We worked together, both for the fun of it (and it certainly was a fun day!) and to help each other decipher the instructions. Still, neither of us finished; it’s a fairly complicated bag. I wanted it because my newest iPhone doesn’t fit into the smaller bags I sometimes use for an evening out, for example.

One of our biggest challenges was finding hardware (O-rings, clasps, etc.) in the gunmetal grey color we’d both chosen for the frame of the bag. It’s so much easier to find these things in a silver color! Live and learn.

Anyway, to give myself a break from the hand stitching I’ve been doing on the binding and hanging sleeve of ‘Tis the Season, I’ve been working a little at a time on the bag, and now it’s finished. There are things I’d do differently, now that I see the finished product, but on the whole I’m pretty pleased with it. I can use it with its shoulder strap/chain, or I can tuck that inside (or remove it entirely) and have a clutch — and my iPhone does fit inside! 😉

Speaking of “inside”, there are lots of pockets to make things very organized. There are two zippered pockets, three open pockets, spaces for a dozen cards (ID, credit cards, etc.), and other open areas that can hold miscellaneous things — like a cell phone. Now I’m really anxious to see Robin’s version!
