Several friends and I have just returned from a weekend in Lake Havasu City, AZ, where a quilt retreat was held last week. Most of our “group” took a class together from Linda Hibbert, who had designed a new pattern for the occasion: a covey of quail! When I saw the photo of the design some months ago, I knew I had to try to get into the class, and several of my friends had the same reaction. What do you think? Would you have been as excited as we were?
We stayed at the London Bridge Resort, which gave us mini-suites with many amenities, though wifi was dismal most of the time. Still, my roommate and I were lucky and had this view from our windows:
I think that went a long way to making our stay even more comfortable! LOL! In addition, this is what greeted us in the lobby of the hotel:
Pretty spectacular, right? But the view wasn’t the main reason for our trip, of course. Linda Hibbert is a good teacher, and she explained her special way of doing paper piecing. It was difficult for some of us to “undo” the way we’d been doing it for so long, but laughter goes a long way when you’re doing as much — or more — UNsewing as sewing, as I was!
Even with the learning curve, though, I did finish one entire baby chick and part of another. It wasn’t as much as I’d hoped to accomplish, but it’s progress! 🙂
