Some time ago I looked around for a yarn shop and couldn’t find one all that conveniently located for my area. The only one I did find was disappointingly unfriendly. 🙁 However, last week I had a very happy surprise when the local newspaper wrote an article profiling a yarn shop I hadn’t known about and that was reasonably close to home! Yay!
Needless to say, I zipped over there as soon as I could, and — no surprise! — eventually came home with a new pattern and some yarn to make it. The owner there is very nice and welcoming, and there’s some very yummy yarn in the shop, with the promise of more to come.
I’ve been knitting my new cardigan since then (I was getting sort of bored with dishcloths, anyway

Very pretty so far. Looks like the perfect sweater to wear to combat all the air conditioning 🙂 Glad you found such a nice local shop. As wonderful as the internet is, it’s awfully nice to be able to shop (and see things!) in person sometimes.
That looks nice, Sandy. Could you tell me the name of the company where you found the pattern ? I’ve been trying for quite a while to find a good pattern for a cardigan.
The company is called Sirdar, Carolyn. I found the pattern in a pamphlet (link is in the post) at a yarn shop not far from my home (link in my post). I’m not sure where else it’s available, but I’d guess you could find a yarn shop in the UK that has it, if you don’t find one near you in France. Good luck! 🙂
