My husband and I give our grandchildren a Christmas ornament each year. To give a bit of background, we had no Christmas ornaments when we married, so I made a point of giving each of our daughters an ornament each year so they’d have a little supply when they began their own homes. That naturally morphed into giving each of the grandchildren an ornament. Sometimes we buy ornaments if we see some we especially like, and sometimes I make them. This year was one of those years, and I found some very pretty embroidery designs to make. I did have to slow my machine (Bernina 790Pro) down significantly to accommodate the metallic threads; even the wonderful, usually trouble-free KingStar metallics had problems with the density of these designs, but it all worked out in the end. But all seven are done! 🙂

LOL! I know what you mean — I weeded out a lot last year! But these aren’t ours, so that’s okay. 🙂
Sandy, your ornaments are absolutely beautiful! What a lovely tradition ❤️
Thanks, Deena! I hope they will think of me when they use them in their future homes. 🙂
What a great job explaining the need for ornaments when starting out as “grown ups.” We also gave ornaments to our own children and to our grands. Your embroidered ones are wonderful. I’ve been making wool felt ornaments for the last few years. Luckily I only have to make 4.
Four? That would definitely be a bit easier. I used to have to do five, but then one of our daughters remarried and acquired two more children. LOL!
What a lovely tradition Sandy. Your family will treasure them!
Thanks, Candice! 🙂 I hope so!
