I’ve made quite a few bags from patterns at Annie Unrein’s site, and this is my latest. The strap adjusts to make the bag go from shoulder bag to cross-body bag to fanny pack — very useful! The pattern was introduced at the Houston quilt show, where I made sure to get a copy and all of the hardware that would be necessary for the small size bag. While there, I also bought a half- yard piece of lavender cork, and then I realized that I’d also need some cotton fabrics for parts of the bag, if only to cut down on the bulk in the seams. I was lucky to find a beautiful print with lots of shades of purple for the lining, but it was harder to find an almost-solid to coordinate, too. I finally settled on a Grunge that was almost right. 🙂
I decided to make the entire exterior of the bag in cork, using the print for most of the linings and the almost-solid Grunge for a pocket that is not quite completely hidden behind the others. The small pocket nearest the front of the inner bag is cork so as to give a unified appearance when closed. I think this bag will be perfect for occasional use!

Oh I haven’t seen this pattern yet. Beautiful bag & love the purples! I really enjoy making bags & using cork. I’ve been making different Spencer Ogg bags lately & the grandkids……all in their teens &/or 20’s, have been ‘borrowing’ them as quickly as I finish them lol. Have you ever checked out the Bag of the Month club? I think you would really enjoy it.
Thanks, Candice! I haven’t seen that site yet — I’ll have to do it ASAP! 🙂
Hi Sandy, your work is amazing. That is a beautiful bag. Great job and cute name for the bag.
Thanks, Taria, though I can’t take credit for the name. 🙂
Cute bag. Love the color 😍
Thanks, Deena! I love purples, too. 🙂
Beautiful bag! I have made several of the Annie bags and love them all
Thanks, Ellen! Her patterns are so clearly written, aren’t they? 🙂
I really like this newest bag you just did. It would be so practical for me particularly because the strap adjusts to a fanny pack. What would you suggest for durable fabric other than the cork because I assume you meant the cork was not meant for everyday use? Otherwise the cork looks beautiful. Thanks for your blog. I enjoy reading it often.
Thanks, Deb! 🙂 Actually, cork is very durable and would be perfect for everyday use — I just usually carry a larger bag in order to avoid plastic bags at stores and so on, so this one wouldn’t work for that. If you’re going to use this bag regularly, I’d definitely recommend using cork or similar. 🙂
