Just yesterday, this is what my latest quilt top looked like:
As you can probably see, the center square was complete, but I hadn’t yet attached the borders. Those border sections to surround the outer triangles, which are just pinned in place, weren’t even cut out, as I was still figuring the dimensions of those pieces.
Today, however, I’ve completed the top! Of course, I almost drove myself to insanity with piecing black fabric to black fabric, using black thread, as I mitered those outer corners. 😉 It’s really hard to see well, and my eyes are definitely very tired now. “All” that remains now is to decide on how I want to quilt it, find some backing and batting, and figure out whether I can use something other than black thread. 😉
Just as a fun note, I fussy cut the triangles of the print fabric, as well as the kite shapes. I had just one yard of this beautiful fabric, and this photo shows what was left after I’d cut everything out. LOL! It’s laid out on my wood-grain tile floor, which explains the funny lines in the holes in the fabric.

Beautiful blocks!
Thanks, Hope! 🙂
This is simply stunning and superb. Carmen
Thank you, Carmen! 🙂
So beautiful! Oh, black on black is torture, I use a dark grey thread to keep my sanity when sewing black fabric pieces together.
Thanks, Marcella! Yes, I’m going to use a charcoal for some of the quilting for that very reason, but it hadn’t arrived when I was making the top. LOL!
