I have a “thing” about pin cushions. Somehow I can’t seem to pass up many of them, and this time, thanks to a generous gift from my friend Phyl, I combined that addiction with a desire to experiment with some of Sue Spargo’s embroidery. I’ve done a tiny bit of wool embroidery in the past, but it was nothing like what Sue Spargo does. I didn’t push myself to finish quickly, and I did enjoy doing it, making frequent use both of Sue’s stitch book and of a second book that “translates” many stitches for us left-handed people. Most of the time, I could do the switch myself, but it was certainly nice to have the confirmation that I’d done so correctly. 🙂
Since the pin cushion is a pyramid in shape, there are actually four sides, each a little different from the others. There were five colors of wool circles to embellish, and it was fun to watch the designs evolve. My stitches are definitely those of a beginner, but it was a lot of fun to do!
