Have I mentioned that I love sushi? Of course, I love lots of different foods, but sushi is right up there at or near the top. Last night our younger daughter had us over for a Mother’s Day sushi dinner, but it was a little different from what we might have expected. Instead of getting sushi from a restaurant, we made it ourselves! My husband and daughter added jalapeños to theirs, while our two grandsons and I did not. 😉 This platter is the result of our efforts and was practically annihilated by the time we’d finished stuffing ourselves. I’d have said it was too pretty to eat, but we made the sacrifice.
Just before beginning our “taste test” (which was passed with flying colors) our 15-year-old grandson took a photo of his mom and me — and he caught her at her best. 😉
We enjoyed our feast outdoors on the patio, since the weather was just gorgeous, after an unusually rainy few weeks here in the desert. That’s my husband on the right, with Andrew on the left and Aidan at the head of the table. We’re planning to make this meal a family thing, with both daughters, son-in-law, and all five grandchildren in the near future. Can’t wait, but in the meantime, our elder daughter is taking us out for a belated Mother’s Day dinner tonight!
