Yesterday the quilt group I belong to had its annual holiday party. We went to a local restaurant — one that treats us like royalty! — and visited, ate, laughed, and exchanged gifts. What’s not to love about a get-together like that? 🙂  Our gift exchange is anonymous, with a little poem that tells us to swap with someone wearing, for example, green, or with someone with a particular number. It’s so much fun! The package I originally chose was swapped by others several times, and I think I ended up swapping five or six different packages by the time it was all over. LOL!
My final package was a large flat one that had a little “give”, so of course I thought it was a cutting mat — as did several people near me. How wrong we were! Kim, one of our members, had made a table mat, about 19″ in diameter, from clothesline and wrapped fabric. Isn’t it gorgeous? With all of those bright colors, it will be wonderful on my table — especially in the summertime!
As if that weren’t enough, she also enclosed a large piece of a very unusual batik (don’t we all love batiks?) — “large” being about 2.5 yards. Wow! It’s deep red and black — I can’t wait to use it in something special!

Can you tell me more specifics about the process of the gift exchange? It sounds really fun and different from what we have been doing every year. d
I wish I could, Denise! I don’t have a copy of the little poem we use, but it’s all good fun. No one even gets upset, because we don’t open the gifts until all have been distributed and swapped around for the last time. I love it!
