Day four of our cruise began in Tournon, a picturesque city surrounded by vineyards. Look how lovely it looks with the sun peeking through the clouds!
Here is a better view of our docked location.
This one of the many bridges crossing the Rhône.
We zipped over to Tain l’Hermitage, very near to Tournon, to see some of the vineyards there.
In Tain l’Hermitage, there was also the chance to visit the Valrhona chocolate factory — with unlimited samples! This was truly lovely chocolate, in all sorts of varieties, so we bought some to bring home for our daughters and their families. This chart explains each variety of chocolate available, and the samples are at the bottom, ready for grabbing.
Back on our ship, there was a reception for all returning Viking travelers. We had a choice of little appetizers, along with either champagne, mimosas, or kir royale (a mix of champagne and crème de cassis). In addition, they gave us each a shot of aquavit, as befits a Norwegian cruise line.
Stay tuned for more! 🙂
