I was delighted with how things went for me at our local show this past weekend. There were some really beautiful quilts, but I have ribbons on two of the four pieces I’d entered! People who earn ribbons are given badges to wear at the show, which is a nice touch. It allows us to congratulate our friends even before we’ve seen their quilts. These are my badges!
What projects did I enter, and which ones did so well? Here they are:
1. The blue ribbon was on my A Place for Everything Bag. How nice that it matched the bag! 😉 The judge liked my embroidered patch, though she mentioned that she thought it was off-center. However, she was quite complimentary about the actual construction, including the zipper applications, as well as about the edge finish.
2. The white ribbon is hanging on Diamond Delight. The judge liked my color choices, especially the orange against the dark background. She also liked the sharp points (thanks to Carol Doak’s paper piecing techniques!) and the curved crosshatching in the background.
I also entered Twister Illusions and Puppy Love. Twister Illusions needed straighter seam and edge lines, but the judge liked the value choices of my fabrics and the piping.
The judge liked the faces on Puppy Love, as well as the piping and paw prints, but — again — the edges needed to be straighter.
I always look forward to the judge’s comments, as they give me pointers on how to improve. 🙂 This time I know I’ll need to work on my edges — or perhaps I should go for curvy quilts instead? LOL!

Congratulations! That guild does a beautiful show and they have a lot of really talented quilters – which shows just how beautiful and well done your projects are that you came home with two ribbons. That’s really great!
Thanks, Marcella! You’re really sweet to say so. 🙂
