Hiding |
Our poor little Bisou is terrified of thunder. Rain by itself doesn’t bother her, but thunder is more than she can bear, so she finds a little “cave” to hide in until it passes, and she quivers and quakes until it does. I feel so sorry for her!
The cave is frequently this space under my computer desk, which explains the tangle of wires you see here.
Poor little pup!

Poor little thing. Our Jack Russell Charly does the same only she bolts upstairs and hides under the bed right at the back behind the shoes and winter clothes. We close the curtains and turn on the raidio or TV but its hard to mask the sound of thunder!
Ruth, your Charly reminds me of the Doberman we used to have years and years ago. His name was Callie, and thunder sent him scurrying to the back of our closet, on *top* of the shoes and whatever else we had stored there. When we closed the closet doors, he’d climb into the shower and hide there instead. Poor thing!
How about a cat just like that?!! I have had dogs scared as you describe, but never a cat until this one. He practically flattens himself to the floor and manages to get under a chair that isn’t really high enough for an 18 lb. cat to crawl under. Or, he will get in my lap and bury his head under my arm. You can feel him trembling and feel so sorry for him. He almost acts as though he goes into a coma then after a period of time once the storm has passed he “comes to” meowing like “Wow, I lived through another one!”
I’ve never had a cat at all, Rebecca! But I do feel sorry for any animal who is scared this way.
I have a little dog that is scared of thunder, gun shots, and fireworks. He shakes, hides under the bed…I’ve been known to lie next to him at the edge of the bed. (I can’t fit under the bed…ha ha) I feel so sorry for him when it happens!
