Our guild here has an annual challenge for members. This time we were given two pieces of fabric: one was a black/white cotton print, and the other was a silver/black sheer dotted fabric. Ugh. I took one look at that second piece and decided not to enter the challenge this year.
Mine is a mini; the blocks are 3″ square, and the quilt measures just under 11″ square. I paper pieced the background blocks and added the pandas with machine appliqué. I attached two rows of corded piping (love using piping!
The theme of this year’s challenge was to use ideas from a fable, myth, legend or fairy tale. Can you guess what I chose? It’s called “The Three Bears Went to China and Left Goldilocks at Home”! LOL! Papa Panda and Mama Panda (in her glittery skirt) are watching Baby Bear take a nap.

Adorable! You came up with a great idea. My mom had sent me a packet but between that metallic fabric and the theme my mind was a blank and stayed that way 🙂 Have fun at the meeting!
Thanks, Marcella! I have to admit that my mind was a total blank at first, too. I had to do some major brainstorming with friends before we came up with this for me to make. I was kicking and screaming the whole way.
I’ve entered a couple of challenges over the years, but I’m another with a blank mind most of the time! Your quilt is wonderful!
Thanks, Susan! Sometimes I think the imagination gene went missing when I was born. LOL!
