Last year I ended up working on two BOMs, which kept me pretty busy while also trying to work on various other projects. One of those BOMs was one that our quilt group decided to do as a group project, though everyone did her own version. Some of us did 12″ blocks, and some of us did 6″ blocks. Personally, I prefer smaller blocks, so that’s what I did. Anyway, the group had so much fun that we decided to do another BOM this year. Our fearless leader actually designed a quilt just for us! It’s going to be really cute, but there’s one little glitch. The blocks are large. It’s taken me some time to figure out how to shrink them to a size I prefer; even EQ8, while successful in calculating the designs, gave me measurements that just weren’t workable. Have you ever tried to cut something at 32nds of an inch? \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

\"A<\/a>However, I think I’ve finally come up with a plan to give me blocks I’ll be happier working with! The tree block that accompanies each monthly block started out 12″ tall, but I’ve figured out how to get it to 6″ tall. I just had to leave our half of its “branches”; those half-rectangle blocks can get tricky! Each month will have a tree beside a house. Each roof is a flying goose block (I’ve made them all the same), and the “main” part of the house is a different quilt block.
