\"Part<\/a>Just before leaving for my trip to the Houston Quilt Festival, I did the most recent installment of the BOM from Wonderfil. Now the third row is complete, and there is only one more row — two or three blocks — to go! I’m guessing that one of those will be the bottom portion of the coffee machine whose top is visible already. (Click on the photos to enlarge them.)<\/p>\n

Now that I’m back from my trip to Houston, I need to take a deep breath — I really need to catch up on some sleep! LOL! The show was, of course, fantastic. The quilts that won the major awards were breathtaking, as always; but the other quilts were just as amazing. One thing that I love to see is that there are always several groups of schoolchildren there with chaperones\/teachers; they all have worksheets to fill out with various observations, and they all take it very seriously. The next generation of quilters may be among them!<\/p>\n

\"photo<\/a>There were vendors galore, too, of course, all of whom I felt it my duty to visit, if only briefly. I’m really liking my new YLI threads, now that Bob Purcell, who used to own Superior Threads, owns this brand and is remaking these threads with his former attention to detail and quality. I did buy a couple of patterns and one kit, too. I’m not crazy about kits, as a general rule, but the pattern for this one from LegitKits needs so many different fabrics that it seemed the best choice in this case. Besides, I had won a discount coupon! Now I’m awaiting the kit’s arrival at my home.<\/p>\n

I also took a class while I was there; it was given by Cristina Arciniega Bono from Spain, and it involved designing quilts and quilt motifs on the iPad. Unfortunately, while she is a very generous and patient teacher, there were technical difficulties with the projector that allowed us to see her iPad so that we could then try something similar on our own. However, she is going to send each of us a link to an online class she’ll be recording in a couple of weeks so that we won’t feel as though we didn’t get what we’d expected.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
