\"Slightly<\/a>It’s been a while since I’ve posted about this quilt that I’m making as a gift. I did most of the piecing \u00a0during sewing days with my group, and then I got sidetracked. First of all, of course, there was the major problem with my Bernina 790PRO, which sort of exploded and was eventually replaced by Bernina. Whew! After that, I was in the middle of making a new hanging toiletry bag, which I wanted to finish before going away for a little vacation. But now that’s finished, we’ve returned, and I’m beginning the actual quilting on this gift-to-be. Yay!<\/p>\n

First of all, of course, I’m doing the straight-line stabilizing quilting to secure all of the seam lines. For that, I use a walking foot, as it feeds the thick layers more evenly than the built-in dual feed system can. I love the dual feed system, but it really isn’t designed for the bulk of a quilt sandwich. I have to say that my 790PRO is handling this part of the process better than my previous 790Plus did, much as I loved that machine. And, of course, having the lovely little laser show me exactly where my next stitch will land is really helpful!<\/p>\n

I’m hoping to finish the rest of this stabilizing quilting today, if there aren’t too many interruptions, and then I’ll be able to begin the free-motion motifs I’m planning for the blocks. That will be much more fun! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
