\"A<\/a>Some time ago, I saw an adorable pattern<\/a>\u00a0 by Whole Circle Studio and have admired it ever since. However, a couple of weeks ago I was planning to attend an upcoming sewing day at “my” LQS, the day sponsored by our local guild, and I didn’t really have anything in mind to do. Coincidentally, the very quilt I’d been admiring online was hanging in the shop! Naturally, I was meant<\/strong> to make it, right? I bought the pattern and went home to see what I had on hand, which turned out to be some batiks that had been “ripening” in my stash for a long time.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a>The sewing day arrived quite soon, so I bought background fabric that day and set to work. I had a little mishap (I can be a bit careless) with the first block, but it eventually came together, and I made one or two each day after that. I’d decided to make each “needle” in a darker shade of a color, and another in a paler\/brighter shade.<\/p>\n

I took my time with these blocks, since I was enjoying them and didn’t want to finish quickly. They are a combination of paper piecing and “regular” piecing, both of which I enjoy. But it doesn’t take too long to do eight of these. Of course, I could have made a lot more, but I want to hang the finished piece in my sewing room, and there isn’t much wall space left!<\/p>\n

The next step, of course, is sandwiching and quilting. I’ve found what I think is the perfect backing: a Riley Blake print in pale blue and white, printed with the round labels from thread spools!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
