The pattern was introduced at the Houston quilt show, where I made sure to get a copy and all of the hardware that would be necessary for the small size bag. While there, I also bought a half- yard piece of lavender cork, and then I realized that I&#8217;d also need some cotton fabrics for parts of the bag, if only to cut down on the bulk in the seams. I was lucky to find a beautiful print with lots of shades of purple for the lining, but it was harder to find an almost-solid to coordinate, too. I finally settled on a Grunge that was <em>almost<\/em> right. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Payday-Bag.jpeg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-5250\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Payday-Bag.jpeg?resize=300%2C225&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Inside of cork bag showing purple print lining and several pockets.\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Payday-Bag.jpeg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Payday-Bag.jpeg?resize=1024%2C768&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Payday-Bag.jpeg?resize=768%2C576&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Payday-Bag.jpeg?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>I decided to make the entire exterior of the bag in cork, using the print for most of the linings and the almost-solid Grunge for a pocket that is not quite completely hidden behind the others. The small pocket nearest the front of the inner bag is cork so as to give a unified appearance when closed.
