In Susan Cleveland&#8217;s technique, they are attached to the entire quilt sandwich at this point, rather than just to the quilt top. Now I&#8217;m beginning the quilting! So far, I&#8217;m not quite sure what I&#8217;m going to do in the white background areas; I&#8217;m tossing around some ideas, though what I&#8217;d originally thought I&#8217;d do is probably not going to work. At any rate, I knew from the beginning that I wanted to crosshatch the centers of the plates, and that is now done, using free-motion ruler work. My lovely Bernina 790+ just purred through that process!
