Time really does fly when you’re having fun, doesn’t it? Not long after my last post, my husband and I took off for a couple of weeks on a Mediterranean cruise, beginning with several days in Barcelona and ending in Venice. The cruise was wonderful, as usual, and we enjoyed practically every minute of it. Unfortunately for some of our fellow passengers, baggage problems abounded to the point where several passengers didn’t have luggage for the first week, and some never had their bags at all. We were lucky, though, until the return flight, when my bag was abandoned in London, arrived here in town the next day, and was finally delivered to me a day after that. Whew!<\/p>\n

\"Chouchou<\/a>After returning home, we began searching for a dog to fill the void in our home since our wonderful Bisou died last January. We’d thought we’d forego the adorable puppy phase, given that we’re older now and not so eager to be getting up in the middle of the night. We began searching for an adult cocker spaniel, but they seem to be in very short supply these days; none of the rescues we could find had any. We checked the local animal control places — such sad, depressing places! — and couldn’t find anything but large dogs, and I don’t think I can handle a large dog any longer, much as I loved the Dobermans I used to have. We did finally see a little 9-lb adult terrier mix on a rescue site, and we decided to foster her to see if we’d be a match.<\/p>\n

\"Chouchou<\/a>Chouchou — pronounced “shoo shoo” — as we’ve named her, came from a horrible hoarding situation, so she has a few “issues” — like not controlling her bowels when she’s scared, and she’s scared of many new-to-her things. But we’re hoping she’ll get past that, because she’s absolutely adorable, doesn’t have a mean bone in her body, and is affectionate and cuddly.<\/p>\n

Did you notice that I didn’t say a word about my Saguaro quilt? Yes, I still have it under my needle, but not much is getting done as my husband and I bond with Chouchou.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
