I hadn’t really noticed how long it’s been since I’ve written a blog post, but here we go. I made a quilt top that I’ve decided I don’t like. I have it all sandwiched and ready to quilt, but I can’t seem to get to the quilting, since I don’t like it. Maybe sometime down the road.

In the meantime, I saw a pattern online that I just loved. It reminded me of growing up in southern Arizona, where there were lots of saguaros. My husband really liked it, too. The same day that I saw it and was debating whether or not I should buy it, my local quilt shop’s newsletter arrived, and they were advertising the same pattern. It was a sign, right? So I rushed over to the shop and bought it as soon as it was available, and my Bernina and I have been sewing steadily ever since. The designer is Christina Cameli.

Here’s the top, though now I’ll need to get some backing and batting for it. I’m picturing quilting a lot of straight lines and perhaps swirls and pebbles for contrast. It will take some time, of course, since the quilt is a good size — about 58″ x 72″. The size is the reason the you see “things” protruding into the photo; my sewing room is relatively small, and taking a photo of a quilt this size is tricky. 😉

Wow!
