Some years ago, I had classes from her in Houston on varied topics like free-motion quilting, piecing, and binding. Lately, though, her classes haven’t been offered at times that worked for me. However, she is now offering a whole series of classes online! Some are updated versions of classes I’ve already had, and some are new to me. All in all, though, I’m really delighted to have them available and to be able to pick and choose what I’d like to tackle.

The classes are filmed in *very* short segments of about ten minutes, so it’s very easy to go back and refresh one’s memory without having to navigate through an hour or more of information. Philippa is really generous with her time and knowledge, and she always insists that there is more than one way to do something, but she’s teaching what works for her.

One of the classes available is her Piping and Binding class. I took that one from her in person several years ago, but I figured it was worth seeing what was new — and there was a lot! I made a very small sample, using an old quilt sample I’d stashed away, and putting single piping in one corner and double piping in another. I think this will help me make my future piping much nicer than in the past — and I do love to use piping in my quilts! Hmmm…perhaps I should actually stitch down the back side of the binding. 😉

It’s been a very long time since I was fortunate enough to be able to take a class from a lady who is probably my all-time favorite instructor, Philippa Naylor.
