This bag is another of the ones designed by Annie Unrein, whose patterns are very clear, with detailed instructions; this pattern even has a series of videos to help explain the construction. I’ve done several of her patterns in the past, and this one solves a problem I’ve been dealing with unsuccessfully for some time. The use of Soft and Stable between the outer layer and the lining gives the bag wonderful stability, and my Bernina stitched through all of that thickness with no trouble at all! On top of that, in several places I needed to use black thread on top and white in the bobbin, and the tension never let me down.
But back to the problem I needed to solve. You may have noticed that I’ve been doing some experimenting with ruler work in my machine quilting, which means I’ve been accumulating a collection of specialized rulers to “play” with. Storing these rulers is a problem in my rather small sewing room, so they’ve been relegated to plastic bags hanging off the bottom of a pegboard. Those bags were very difficult to access, since they were hanging behind my ironing board. I’m so glad you couldn’t see me crawling under that ironing board to guess which bag I needed to root through! Now I’ll be storing the rulers in this new bag, which is hanging on the back of the door to my room. On top of that, the bag can fold up securely for transport, though that’s not the primary use I’ll have for it.

About two weeks ago I began working on a new bag, taking a break of several days in the middle while we had a houseguest, and I finished it last night.
