\"\"<\/a>A couple of months ago, I posted the top <\/a>to this quilt, and now it’s finished. Yay! For some reason, I didn’t completely paralyze myself this time with those awful inner questions: How should I quilt this? What if it doesn’t look okay? Will I mess up? — and so on. Those questions can keep me debating with myself forever, instead of quilting. This time, though, I knew I wanted radiating lines going from the gorgeous elephant designed by Madisen Hastings to  the edge of the quilt, and then I just filled in those lines with more echoing lines and the occasional “other” filler to add interest.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>It was such fun to use my ruler foot (the Bernina #72) and a variety of rulers (my favorites tend to be some from Lisa Calle<\/a> and Gina Perkes<\/a>) to make the various lines. The ruler foot has such good visibility that I didn’t even bother to switch it out for a different free-motion foot when filling in with pebbles or feathers or swirls.<\/p>\n

I went through a lot<\/em> of thread on this piece, including about five and half bobbins — and the bobbins for my Bernina 780 hold an enormous amount of thread — more than 80% more thread than on a “normal” bobbin.<\/p>\n

I used one of the appliqu\u00e9 fabrics — they’re all Tula Pink designs — on the back and also as the piping next to the binding. The quilt measures 32″ x 39″.<\/p>\n
