I’ve skipped posting a few “installments” here on the practice piece I began here<\/a> and continued here<\/a>. Between those two installments and now, I added about a zillion “pebbles” around the flying geese, as well as two sections with curved feathers. The latest task, which I did today, was to do three sections of “swirling” feathers, each in a different thread weight. I chose shades of blue for my three samples.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>This one was done in 100wt. YLI silk thread, which is extremely fine. I happen to have a fairly good supply of this, left over from some quilting projects I did in the past.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>This second sample was in 50wt. Aurifil, a cotton thread that’s a good “medium” weight. I use this thread a lot in both piecing and quilting.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>The third section is much heavier; I used 12wt Confetti thread. This thread is so heavy that I think I shouldn’t have tried to use my Bernina’s built-in needle threader; I’ll have to take my machine in to have it adjusted. \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n

There are still ten sections on the practice piece to fill in, so we’ll see what’s coming!<\/p>\n
