{"id":3025,"date":"2017-05-19T17:11:00","date_gmt":"2017-05-20T00:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sandymike.net\/blog\/?p=3025"},"modified":"2017-05-19T17:11:00","modified_gmt":"2017-05-20T00:11:00","slug":"machine-quilting-practice-installment-three","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sandymike.net\/blog\/2017\/05\/19\/machine-quilting-practice-installment-three\/","title":{"rendered":"Machine quilting practice, installment three"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve skipped posting a few &#8220;installments&#8221; here on the practice piece I <a href=\"http:\/\/sandymike.net\/blog\/2017\/02\/23\/machine-quilting-practice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">began here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/sandymike.net\/blog\/2017\/03\/10\/machine-quilting-practice-installment-two\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">continued here<\/a>. Between those two installments and now, I added about a zillion &#8220;pebbles&#8221; around the flying geese, as well as two sections with curved feathers. The latest task, which I did today, was to do three sections of &#8220;swirling&#8221; feathers, each in a different thread weight. I chose shades of blue for my three samples.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/silk100wt.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3031\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/silk100wt-300x171.jpg?resize=300%2C171\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"171\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/silk100wt.jpg?resize=300%2C171&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/silk100wt.jpg?w=640&amp;ssl=1 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>This one was done in 100wt. YLI silk thread, which is extremely fine. Aurifil, a cotton thread that&#8217;s a good &#8220;medium&#8221; weight.
