\"\"<\/a>I was thinking back recently\u00a0and realized that I hadn’t touched my sewing machine since before Christmas! Things have been busy, what with the holiday season, our brief trip, my mother’s death, and other life “things”. However, at the end of January, Angela Walters came to our local guild and gave a couple of classes. I signed up for one of them, and I thoroughly enjoyed it\u00a0\u2014\u00a0she has a wicked sense of humor, which I love. The workshop I took was called “Techniques for Quilting Negative Space” and was worth every minute. We worked on sample quilt sandwiches, leaving us the freedom to make mistakes and try new things without worrying about messing up a real quilt. As you can see, my efforts had mixed success.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>In addition, I’ve\u00a0unearthed\u00a0a kit I’d purchased at the Houston show last fall. I don’t often buy kits, but this one was gorgeous\u00a0\u2014\u00a0all batiks in a range of shades from darkest purple to palest lavender, added to a black background. The pattern is called Convex Illusions, put out by KwiltArt<\/a>. This is a photo of the beginning of the central portion. By\u00a0now\u00a0I’m quite a bit further along than this, but it’s difficult to take a picture of the whole top\u00a0when I don’t have a way to hang it yet. That will have to wait until\u00a0I have a hanging sleeve on it\u00a0\u2014\u00a0which can only happen after I’ve quilted it. The next step is to get some backing fabric and sandwich it while trying to work out how I want to do the quilting!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
