\"IMG_1694\"<\/a>My granddaughter started working on a jellyroll quilt at the beginning of the summer after we’d given her the jellyroll and backing\/binding fabric for her birthday in May. As soon as the rush of end-of-school activities was over, she came over\u00a0to my house\u00a0to sew, but a\u00a0long list of scheduling conflicts has made it impossible her\u00a0to sew with me after that first session this summer. Either her family was away, or we were away, or we were dealing with the new flooring and the subsequent repairs to the plumbing, and so on. It did seem like the “sewing forces”\u00a0were against us for a while.<\/p>\n

However, today worked out well for both\u00a0of us, so Gabriella and her Featherweight came over and made good progress on the quilt top; she’s improved so much since the beginning of the summer! She’s finding it easier to sew a mostly-straight line, and she’s remembering to put the needle in the down position before rearranging fabric so as to minimize shifting. I’m really proud of her progress and can hardly wait until we can schedule the next session — around school activities, of course. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
