\"Leaving<\/a>Our time in Budapest drew to a close, and so off we sailed. We left as evening fell, and it was a truly spectacular way to say goodbye to a lovely city. Most of the passengers gathered on the top deck to watch as we passed the lights of the city.<\/p>\n

Gorgeous, isn’t it?<\/p>\n

Most spectacular, though, was the view of the Parliament building.<\/p>\n

We \u00a0said goodbye as the Green Bridge faded into the distance.<\/p>\n

\"Going<\/a>The next morning\u00a0we went through a lock on the way to Bratislava, Slovakia; it was the first of several locks on the Danube. This one was very impressive! Look how high the walls are …<\/p>\n

…and see how close we are now to getting to the top.<\/p>\n

\"Tour<\/a>As we cruised along, we were able to take a tour of the captain’s wheelhouse, which collapses when necessary to go under a low-hanging bridge. Speaking of the captain, ours was wonderful!<\/em>\u00a0He was a constant presence, always helpful and accommodating.<\/p>\n

To keep us entertained as we traveled, the head chef and one of his assistants demonstrated how to make apple strudel — with help from two of the passengers in the audience. Naturally, we were able to sample a strudel that was already prepared! Yum!<\/p>\n
