I can&#8217;t wait to hang it in the spot I&#8217;ve decided will be just right for it. While I usually rotate which\u00a0quilts are out\u00a0from one season to the next, I suspect this one will stay put, simply because it&#8217;s going quite high on a wall where nothing much larger would fit, anyway, since the quilt measures about 33&#8243; x 12.75&#8243;. \ud83d\ude09 I&#8217;ve wanted to get this done since I first saw the pattern offered as a class at a <a href=\"http:\/\/sandymike.net\/blog\/2015\/01\/11\/back-from-a-fun-weekend\/\">January retreat in Lake Havasu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_0349.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2002\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_0349-300x283.jpg?resize=300%2C283\" alt=\"IMG_0349\" width=\"300\" height=\"283\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_0349.jpg?resize=300%2C283&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_0349.jpg?resize=1024%2C966&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_0349.jpg?w=1440&amp;ssl=1 1440w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>I decided not to bind this quilt, instead opting for a facing turned to the back. The free-motion quilting includes a saguaro cactus behind a couple of the chicks and some &#8220;swoopy&#8221; curves that I&#8217;d hoped would give a sort of windy feeling to the background. You can see photos of some of that and the border quilting in <a href=\"http:\/\/sandymike.net\/blog\/2015\/03\/03\/quail-progress\/\">my previous post<\/a>, but here is another bit of the &#8220;windy&#8221; look.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_0353.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2003\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_0353-300x225.jpg?resize=300%2C225\" alt=\"IMG_0353\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_0353.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_0353.jpg?resize=1024%2C768&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_0353.jpg?w=1440&amp;ssl=1 1440w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>I put some pebbles into the area near\u00a0the quails&#8217; feet, and there are lots of straight-ish lines in the part they&#8217;re actually standing or walking along.
