This year&#8217;s show judge was really good to me, as I won <i>three ribbons<\/i>! Wow! I&#8217;m thrilled! Here are my &#8220;babies&#8221; with their fancy additions:<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Baravelle-Spiral.jpg\" style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"278\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Baravelle-Spiral-300x261.jpg?resize=320%2C278\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">Some time ago I made a Baravelle Spiral quilt from a pattern designed by a very good online friend, Pat Storey. Her book is <i><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Geometrical-Quilts-Pat-Storey\/dp\/189961883X\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1299281299&amp;sr=8-1\" target=\"_blank\">Geometrical Quilts<\/a><\/i>. I used her pattern to make a quilt for our guild challenge that year; we had to use specific black and white prints, as well as any other blacks and whites and only one other color. We also had to add beading. This is what I made, and it took a third place ribbon in our show! \ud83d\ude42<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Miniature-Trip-Around-the-World.jpg\" style=\"clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"320\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Miniature-Trip-Around-the-World-241x300.jpg?resize=257%2C320\" width=\"257\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">My miniature Trip Around the World (about 21&#8243; square) is next on the list. I made this one after a very good friend gave me a set of strips of batiks. I love the colors in it, and apparently the judge didn&#8217;t hate them, as she awarded it a second place ribbon. \ud83d\ude42<\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Winding-Ways-3.jpg\" style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"320\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Winding-Ways-3-255x300.jpg?resize=272%2C320\" width=\"272\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\">Last, but best of all, is my Winding Ways quilt. I&#8217;ve been waiting for the show so as to hope for the chance to take a photo of the whole finished quilt (remember <a href=\"http:\/\/sandymike.net\/blog\/2011\/02\/08\/a-finish-and-an-almost\/\" target=\"_blank\">this post<\/a>?). I certainly had my chance today, as one of our members who was acting as a white-glove lady kindly held some other quilts out of the way while I snapped a quick photo. You can just barely see the edge of the <i>first-place ribbon<\/i>&nbsp;that&#8217;s hanging with this one!
