I enjoyed it so much that I decided to do more \u2014 especially after I found about a zillion really adorable ideas at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.birdbraindesigns.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bird Brain Designs<\/a>. \ud83d\ude42 I chose this one on the left, called Americana.<\/div>\n<p><span><\/span><span><\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Americana-Scissors-case.jpg\" style=\"clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Americana-Scissors-case-228x300.jpg?resize=151%2C200\" width=\"151\" \/><\/a>I&#8217;ve just finished making the scissors case, and I&#8217;m not unhappy with the result. \ud83d\ude42 I chose to do it in the same colors as the pattern, but it would look equally nice in pastels or some other color scheme, I think. Here&#8217;s my scissors case, propped up on the perle cotton I used for the appliqu\u00e9. What a coincidence that I had some green scissors to keep in it!&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/stitchtool.jpg\" style=\"clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" target=\"_blank\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"166\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/sandymike.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/stitchtool-300x249.jpg?resize=200%2C166\" width=\"200\" \/><\/a>By the way, some time ago a <a href=\"http:\/\/web.mac.com\/sewquilt\/sewquilt\/Home.html\" target=\"_blank\">good friend<\/a> of mine recommended a book that I&#8217;ve found very helpful, since I don&#8217;t do a tremendous amount of embroidery and frequently forget how to do stitches I haven&#8217;t practiced in months&nbsp;\u2014&nbsp;or years. \ud83d\ude09 It&#8217;s Judith Baker Montano&#8217;s <i>Embroidery &amp; Crazy Quilt Stitch Tool<\/i>. It&#8217;s spiral bound at the top and easily stands up on any flat surface, making it very handy to refer to when trying to figure out how to do certain stitches. What&#8217;s even better, IMHO, is that all of the instructions are illustrated in both right- and left-handed versions&nbsp;\u2014&nbsp;a great help for a lefty like me! (No more turning the book upside down to see how something should look.) There&#8217;s also a free iPhone\/iPad version, but it&#8217;s quite limited unless you buy the add-ons for it, which I haven&#8217;t done.&nbsp;<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About six months ago, I posted this project.
